Snowglobes! This outing was a perfect example of the magic of social media. The Red Menace mentioned seeing a Blog post about the Museum of the Modern Snow Globe (http://museumofthemodernsnowglobe.com/), The Smalerie mentioned it wasn't from from her house, and I mentioned that so were some of my favorite curry fries....a few facebook posts later and perhaps one of our quickest coordinated adventure was born.

Mad as a hatter Mt first trip to the Hat Store
Back in the late summer, I decided I wanted a hat...but had no idea where to start. In fact, I was pretty sure I wasn't even a hat person and that the whole exercise would be pointless anyway. At this point a friend mentioned Salmagundi. Ok, so let's go out to the hat store and see what happens.

Well well well....look who decided to write a blog post. Truth is, I'm out of excuses. "The Weddening" is past, and decent progress has been made on Thank you notes. And the truth of it is, there has actually been a lot going on. Weddings,a touch of travel, food adventures, fashion adventures, and upcoming physical challenges....it's probably time to wrangle this horse and get back on.
Consider this post an "ease in", with more on the way.
Secret trip: Edward Gorey House Much of the summer has been taking up with work, family obligations and wedding prep. So as August started to slip away I decided to plan a super secret surprise day for The Goog (well 3 people knew were we where going, but he didn't and that's the important part). So armed with the GPS, road snacks and vague idea of what we would do when we got there, we set out.

Summer Harvest What....after all this time, a post???? So this summer has been an absolute roller coaster, with some very high highs and the absolute lowest of lows. I'll not get into it, but instead what I will try to do is catch up on some of the more pleasant aspects of the last few months. For example, the northern garden....
Recipe Friday: Parsley Salad Parsley Salad
I made this for Durian Day after reading about how much that fruit can give you "death breath". Parsley is a natural breath freshener and this salad was a big hit. It's was mainly cobbled together from stuff I had in my fridge.

Book report: BPRD #1 Last night, for Comicazi Book Club (name still pending), we decided that each member would chose a book (graphic novel) and report on it back to the rest of the club. This would help us to learn more about the favorite books of each member. I was pretty gungho about this idea. Until I realized it was basically doing a presentation....
So because this felt more like public speaking then a usual meeting would, and because I hate public speaking (even though I was among friends), I wrote something up, which really helped.
I thought I would share, so see below for my book report on BPRD #1
Food Challenge: Durian! Durian Adventure
On Sunday a group of food adventurers gathered To try Durian "The King of Fruits". I was fairly nervous about this. Given all I had read, I was really not sure what to expect.....So let's get into it...

As I mentioned way back when, I entered the Warrior Dash www.warriordash.com and started "training" for it. Well, life has been a rollercoaster since then. I won't get into the details, but let's just say I gave up on a lot of things, and almost on this as well. Well, I'm glad I didn't. To paraphrase a friend, I needed a good day. Boy, was she right, and boy, was this a good day and damn did I need it.
I'll pop in too and say hello. I'm not dead, not giving up on this endeavour, just real life got in the way. Boy howdy did it. Ok, there's your sentence this month, now stop bothering me.
Amazingly, I'm not dead. I've got some explaining to do! BIG news. Updates forthcoming next week...I swear on Elise's life.
Back from the dead! Explanation of my missing in action status coming soon. It's not a total cop-out reason this time. Anyhow, it's time to talk about something important. Career goals. When we were kids, we all wanted to be something, and astronaut, a fireman, maybe even a ninja or a poledancer . Today we'll se some people with less...traditional goals.
The Way of the Warrior / It's ON! Some time ago, I saw a picture of a guy in a helmet jumping over fire. I then saw Words that spoke to my soul..free beer, bad ass medal, warrior helmet, the craziest freakin day of your life. As of last week, I'm IN! Signed up and no backing down. Let the warrior dance begin!
Not much to say this week. All I can say is that this man is not human.. He is some demon from hell or another dimension. Also, who ever considered this entertaining...also, don't let him near your kids. What is he laughing about?
Everyone knows that not only does the U.S.A have an easy name to chant at the Olympics, we have the best superheroes in the known universe. Our superheroes can fly, have super strength, heat vision and all kinds of other such powers. Or sometimes they're just freaks with tons of cash and nifty gadgets. Our superheroes are so cool in fact that they inspire filmmakers in foreign lands to make documentaries about them . The most popular subject is of course one of the most recognizable of all the caped wondermen. Superman!
Sometimes repetition is a good thing. Say when you're studying for a test or learn a new skill. It can help develop good habits. It can also drive you insane. I'm not sure if these fall into the good or bad category of repetition. Truly, only you can be the judge.
